Ocean Beach is a beach that runs along the west coast of San Francisco, California, United States, at the Pacific Ocean. It is adjacent to Golden Gate Park, the Richmond District and the Sunset District. The Great Highway runs alongside of the beach, and the Cliff House and the site of the former Sutro Baths sit at the northern end. The beach is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and operated by the National Park Service.
Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End.
The primary purpose of this blog is to post photos and videos taken in and around San Francisco. This photographic activity began in November 2005 as part of a blogging class offered at The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI-SFSU) at San Francisco State University.
