Brooks Park is an island of trees and native plants on the far western edge of Merced Heights. From here one can see the towers of Parkmerced, the San Francisco State campus, the glimmers of Lake Merced and the Pacific Ocean.

Brooks Park is a wilderness park dedicated to rebuilding community health by offering children a raw nature place to tumble, climb rocks and trees..as well as a place where adults can let their children run free while they themselves grow vegetables, play bocce ball, ping pong , do Tai Chi or simple take in the breath-taking views of the Pacific Ocean, farralone islands and Mt Tamalpais. All our urban areas must have these types of green raw places for the rejuvenation of the spirit.
The primary purpose of this blog is to post photos and videos taken in and around San Francisco. This photographic activity began in November 2005 as part of a blogging class offered at The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI-SFSU) at San Francisco State University.
